Welcome to Clan Ventrue.

The first thing you may notice is that we are not having a lot of fun. Fun is not a goal in our clan, but there are other goals that more than compensate. This outline is to help you get the flavor of things.

GOALS OF THE VENTRUE

To rule everyone and everything in the Camarilla

WHY?

  1. Because we can.
  2. Because that's what Caine expects us to do.
  3. Because nobody else does it right.

VIEW OF OTHER CAMARILLA CLANS: (choose one)

  • Bunch of fools don't know what's good for them
  • Poor pitiful children need to be lead, and we know how to do that.

VIEW OF CAMARILLA PRINCES:

They die. Be ready.

VIEW OF LOCAL ARCHANGEL OFFICERS:

They get promoted. Be ready

VIEW OF BREACHES OF THE MASQUERADE:

Money and influences fix almost anything. Have both.
Some one is guilty. Make sure they pay for your help.
Lesser kindred panic at a big breach. Princes don't. Time to show which you were meant to be.

VIEW OF OTHER VENTRUE:

Rivals and obstacles, but the only kindred worthy of your respect. Compete with courtesy and in private, but never let outsiders know.

In case of trouble, use the rule of the Titanic:
Get the Ventrue into the lifeboats, elders first of course.
Help anyone else who is worth saving, logging boons as you go. The Prince is first on your list, of course....unless a Ventrue is seneshal.
When rescued, make sure the elders you helped into the lifeboats remember that you were the one who did it.
Steerage gates stay locked at all times.

VIEW OF MONEY:

Valuable for who and what it buys. Have it, and USE it.

VIEW OF INFLUENCES:

Ventrue stock and trade, and the source of their great power.
FINANCE: Most valuable of all, can influence any area
HIGH SOCIETY: Can influence any area with taste

POLICE and MEDIA:

Stock and trade of the "Save the Masquerade" campaign. Make sure someone in your domain has them.

LEGAL and BUREOCRACY:

Gets other kindred out of tight spots, and cuts red tape on their favorite projects. Major boon producer.

STREET:

Not much use in Ventrue circles, so NO ONE will think you have it. Spy on Gangrel and Brujah projects, not to mention the Nos. Or trade favors with them. STREET and UNDERWORLD often provide tips on coming Sabbat and Setite activity, making you, again, the man of the hour. Just make sure some other clan goes out to fight them.

VIEW ON BOONS:

OUT OF CLAN: Pay now, not later. Giving out a boon is like signing up for a loan without knowing the interest rate. Avoid it through offers of money or influences whenever possible.
IN CLAN: Everyone has money and influences, so expect to have to dish these out.

VIEW ON DISCIPLINES:

FORTITUDE is worth its weight in goal to any coward. Make sure anyone you teach it to pays for it well. It makes a Brujah nearly invincible, for which reason you would think they would buy it from the Gangrel. That so many haven't done that, tells you why we don't let them run cities any more. Don't teach this to a fighter unless you really, really, REALLY trust him not to turn against you, and even then, think about not doing it.
PRESENCE is your most basic defense from bullies. Even if you're high generation, one challenge with Dread Gaze can send the meanest Brujah running. Majesty is the ultimate in self-defense, they can't even START to attack you. Entrancement is subtle, so unlike with many other disciplines, you can control people and not piss them off.
DOMINATE is good among kindred if you're of low enough generation, but don't discount its value if you are not. The ability to give orders and edit memories makes us masters of the mortal world, and is serious "breach fixing" stuff.

(You have picked up now that we spend half our unlives fixing up the messes the other clans make, don't you?)
(Lord Battersea note heres that Dominate is also a great source of entertainment for the elders. Perhaps it should be mentioned here that getting on his bad side would not be a good idea.)

VIEW ON CARTHAGE:

  1. Bitch, bitch, bitch.
  2. They played too hard and we took away their toys. Aw, gee.
  3. If they deserved to rule a city, we'd let them do it, now, wouldn't we?
  4. Yet another example of cleaning up another clan's mess
